over the weekend i was invited to a restaurant opening. now with this being my home town i get invited to a lot of different events. restaurants, night clubs, bars, you name it. most of the time i pass on them, but not this time. reason why you ask? well the opening was at the Hard Rock Hotel and it is a new restaurant named Ago. Ago is owned by Robert Deniro. i thought it would be a long shot that id actually get to meet him, but i went anyway. i thought it was going to be a low key event, and when i got to the door i see this massive press line. for the 1st time in a long time i was a little uncomfortable as i entered the pop's den, because this was my 1st public outing since me and my wife had split. to my surprise most people were very respectful and i blazed through the line sweat free other than a very odd photo op with mike tyson. good thing we were at a restaurant opening, i left with all my parts intact.
    once we were inside i did the typical elbow rubbing with the local important people and had a couple laughs. my good friend phil from Hard Rock kept all the pit bulls off of me and we actually had an enjoyable night. as the night was winding down, phil shuffled me through a couple tables and to a back corner of the restaurant. he tells me "we got to get a photo of you two!" by this time i had a couple glasses of wine and wasnt really processing what was going on. "sure" i said not really knowing what Phil had said to me. the next thing i know im standing face to face with robert deniro! now i understand im not star struck very often, but you meet king of the mob movies and "Taxi Driver" im definitely gonna sweat a little bit.
    i have to say he was one of the coolest guys i have met. very humble and laid back. just like i had hoped he would be. ive added a picture of the two of us for proof. im a lil red from the wine!!
